Amphora Aromatics Shampoo Review

I received 6 sachets of shampoo free from Amphora Aromatics in order to provide honest feedback.

For the purpose of this review the only hair care product that was used at the time of testing were the shampoo sachets. No conditioner, hair masks, heat protection sprays etc were used in order to provide a true, accurate account of the product. The shampoos are part of the Amphora Aromatics Essential Skincare Collection.

The Shampoo

1. Pomegranate and Rose 250ml £5.94

Suitable for frequent use on all hair types.

“Antioxidant and strengthening to give you gloriously glossy hair”

This is ultra gentle and suitable for everyday use. It smells lovely too with the fragrance provided by rose and geranium oils, the antioxidant effects come from the pomegranate.

The shampoo lathers well and a little goes a long way. My hair felt silky
smooth upon drying and was easy to style.

2. Ylang Ylang, Argan and Rosemary Conditioning Shampoo 250ml £5.49

Suitable for dry hair.

“A naturally effective, nutrient-rich conditioning shampoo which can help repair split ends and encourage softness, shine and volume.”

The top notes of Ylang Ylang and Rosemary are heavenly. Ylang Ylang helps battle brittle hair whilst aiding in hydrating and protecting your scalp thus discouraging dandruff. Rosemary is a natural antioxidant but also aids with volume
and encourages hair growth.

Upon drying with the hairdryer the Argan Oil scent prevails. I love Argan oil it’s one of my favourite hair care products because it is vitamin A and E rich which aids with split ends as well as softening your hair and it smells divine.

3. Peony, Bay and Brahmi Nourishing Shampoo 250ml £5.49

Suitable for all hair types.

“A calming and balancing shampoo with natural Peony extract to help boost hair growth and maintain scalp health. Can help repair damaged hair and soothe irritated skin.”

This smells very similar to the Ylang Ylang, Argan and Rosemary above. Rosemary is a strong contender for the top note alongside the Peony a natural astringent, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Brahmi encourages healthy thick hair growth and healthy skin.

When using this shampoo I noticed that my skin (I suffer with eczema. dermatitis and psoriasis) did not get as inflammed as when using my normal shampoo, my hair was also left amazingly shiny! This shampoo is definitely a winner in my book.

4. Amla and Clary Sage Rejuvenating Shampoo 250ml £5.49

Suitable for all hair types.

“A balancing and moisturising shampoo with vitamin C rich Amla (Indian Gooseberry) to strengthen roots. Naturally soothes and protects against scalp irritations leaving hair healthy and strong.”

This is a great shampoo to reach for when you need a boost especially in the morning.

5. Cedarwood and Peppermint Deep Cleansing Shampoo 250ml £5.49

Suitable for oily hair.

“An invigorating, naturally antimicrobial shampoo which also adds volumeand shine. Rich in calcium, Vitamin E and amino acids to protect, nourish and strengthen oily hair.”

Cedarwood oil reduces danduff and helps minimise hair loss. The Corn mint oil used in this shampoo has microbial properties. There is a slight smell of Eucalyptus oil that comes upon drying this oil helps add volume and shine to your hair.

This is my favourite out of the six. The scent combination is so invigorating and smells good enough to eat. My hair was left smooth, shiny and sleek with a little bounce.

6. Rosemary, Sage and Burdock Lift and Repair Shampoo 250ml £5.49

Suitable for all hair types.

“An antioxidant rich shampoo with natural extracts to help repair damaged hair and promote a healthy scalp. Packed with vitamins and minerals to nourich hair, leaving it soft, shiny and strong.”

This is a very fragrant shampoo with the Rosemary and Sage being the top notes. Rosemary, Sage and Burdock team up to provide a boost for your follicles and aid with volume.

I found this to be my least favourite shampoo. My hair is very fine and fly away normally but even more so when using this product, I could not wear my hair down at all due to it becoming very static like and sticking to my face. I ended up giving up straightening my hair and just tying it up.

All of these shampoos are available in a larger 500ml bottle with a pump dispenser for £9.54 here.

In conclusion these shampoos are lovely. They smell gorgeous and are reasonably priced. Although they are made using natural ingredients such as essential oils there are still a few preservatives within them.

MuscleFood Review and 2lb Weight Loss. Woohoo!

I’m now 13st 10lbs!

I’ve lost 2 whole pounds in my first week and I was not expecting that at all due to my major binge on Wednesday and Thursday due to lack of sleep and sick kiddies but I did shift some weight so I’m chuffed.

I ate Weetabix with fruit and low fat yogurt for breakfast most days, a salad or homemade soup lunch and a MuscleFood Live Clean Meal for tea followed by fruit with yogurt if needed.

My biggest change was drinking less Coca-Cola- I went from drinking 1-2litres per day to having 500ml of pop twice last week. I switched my drinks to Flo Water Essence and they are gorgeous, calorie free, fat free and sugar free. They are just mineral water with essence in.

I still had my odd treat though, miracles don’t happen overnight.

I started my weight loss journey by purchasing Live Clean Meals from MuscleFood. I chose the Slimming Meals Lunch bundle at £22.00. You receive a mixture of meals that are ready to pop in the microwave and they are tasty and filling! They are advertised for “a week’s worth of meals” yet you only get 5 which is odd since there are 7 days in the week.

I also received one of these meals free as part of an offer they had on at the time. The free meal I chose was the Persian Lime Chicken with Quinoa and it was delicious! The only fault I found was with the packagaing as this states that it is made with cous cous and I though that was odd- this could be an allergy issue.

16708556_1541393055890628_2335254090979048568_n

The chicken was chunky and well seasoned, the vegetables had a lovely bite in a mint glaze and the quinoa was suberbly flavoured with the lime juice and seasoning well what else would you expect when it was prepared by a Michelin star trained chef???

Another meal I received was Oriental Chicken Pad Thai (not for people with nut allergies). I have never had Pad Thai before so was excited to try a new meal and I wasn’t disappointed- the chicken again was succulent and chunky, the noodles and vegetables were well flavoured in a peanut style dressing with a little spicy kick. The only thing needing improvement was the amount of liquid that came from the noodles and vegetable pack, I had to drain most of it away sadly as it was thin and watery.

The last meal I received was the Pulled Pork with Chipotle Beans. This was my favourite dish of the three that I was sent. I LOVE pulled pork and though there was no way I could have it now I’m looking to lose weight but I was so wrong. The pork is so tender and THOSE beans should have their own food group, the barbecue flavour was mouthwatering and I really want more. Sadly I have lost the photo of this product but take my word for it, it looked amazing, smelled amazing and tasted even better.

Improvements

MuscleFood could improve on their selection of the five meals upon preparation of orders. I was gutted to find that I received 3 Persian Lime, 2 Oriental Pad Thai and one Pulled Pork. I know I received one Persian Lime for free but the order was placed all at the same time so the packers could have mixed the order up a little as they also sell lasagne, spaghetti bolognese, red Thai fish curry and Korean Pork.

The packaging could be a little better as the cing film is a little flimsy and I had a leaky packet.

The food itself needs NO IMPROVEMENT, it is tasty, well cooked and the portions are spot on.

I also ordered a Slimming Mediterranean Pizza which arrived with no “Use By Date” so I couldn’t eat that and I was so looking forward to pizza night too. On the plus side though their Goji Berry Chocolate Bar is out of this world and I can’t share a photo of that because I ate it so fast, it is devilishly moreish!

Personal Improvements

I NEED to exercise more than what I do at the minute. I also need to start meal planning and keeping a food diary. I also need to up my fruit and water intake too.

I WILL LOSE WEIGHT. I WILL REACH MY GOAL AND I WILL SUCCEED!

Much Love

Lynne

Tegu 6 Piece Pocket Pouch Prism- Tints

Looking for a versatile, sturdy, on-the-go toy that promotes imagination?

Then look no further than the Tegu 6 Piece Pocket Pouch Prism pack. I bought the Tints pack as I just loved the colours. They are also available in a variety of other colous ranging in natural to pinks. yellows, greens and blues.

Not only do I LOVE these chunky, colourful, magnetic blocks because of the reasons mentioned before, I also adore that they are made from sustainable forests with the tress being handpicked by experts. In fact for every Pocket Prism pack purchased Tegu also plant a new tree! I can totally get behind this ethos as I LOVE our planet and more manufacturers should take a leaf out of Tegu’s book (see what I did there?).

These marvellous magnetic blocks really got the gears spinning in my kid’s heads. My little girl was perplexed that these blocks magically stuck together and my 9 year old lad thought they were “JUST AWESOME”.

The blocks come in their own industrial felt pouch, perfect for popping in your handbag, nappy bag or Dad’s pocket for outings.

This Prism Pack is a perfect starter pack if you are unsure of what to expect. I love how endless the possibilities are and that other packs can be purchased to expand the building potential. They also encourage the older children to learn about magnets and polarity -which is a plus as I am a massive geek and I love to teach!

As the pacakging says “Ages 1-99” and it’s so true these little blocks are great fun for young and old alike. So when the kids went to bed I played with them by myself and came up with a good few designs to help my daughter with copying.

Take a look at my designs. What is your favourite? Have you got a Tegu set and come up with your own? Please leave a link to your design in the comments to inspire others.

I purchased this set from Baba Me at the price of £16.50. There are different colour combinations and size packs available ranging from the 16 piece set to the HUGE 130 piece classroom set. Prices range from £16.50-£250. There are also lovely little cars, a helicopter and even a horse model available.

Much Love

Grimm’s 6 Piece Rainbow

We welcomed a beautiful new toy into our home on Saturday morning and it has been played with constantly since then. Say “Hello” to the wonderful Grimm’s 6 Piece Rainbow.

Upon removing this from the box, my littlest ran over saying “wow”. It really is gorgeous. The colours are so vibrant and each rainbow is lovingly made from Lime wood (from sustainably managed forests) then dyed with a non-toxic colour stain-great for all ages!

The rainbows are not laquered but can still be wiped clean.

This toy is so versatile and encourages imaginative play. We have had a baby laid in them as a bed, a giraffe on a see-saw followed by my daughter on one, they’ve been shoes, they’ve been lined up according to size and counted the possibilities are as endless as your imagination.

My 9 year old son even abandoned the Xbox to play with this and he has created some FANTASTIC sculptures.

I purchased mine from Babame for £21.99 plus P&P. This company has an AMAZING customer service team and you can always find someone to help you wether it is through their online messaging service, via phone or e-mail or even on their Facebook group.

They are all lovely and they all have a vast knowledge of their products. They even have a Birthday Club where you can order your gifts 6 months in advance (secured with a 20% deposit) and pay off either via Paypal or by purchasing their online vouchers.

Please go ahead and check these guys out, trust me you will become HOOKED!

Grimm’s

We definitely love this toy and will likely buy more Grimm’s in the near future including the 12 piece rainbow. There are Grimm’s Rainbow Friends that co-ordinate beautifully with the rainbows and can be used to create little houses and stunning little masterpieces. Make a ball run with the Grimm’s 6 Wooden Balls that again match the rainbows.

The toys really are limitless!

The Rainbow Challenge

Do you already have a rainbow or any other Grimm’s toys? I challenge you to balance them on your head just like my wonderful Scott below. It’s more difficult than it looks but it’s so much fun.

Leave a comment stating what Grimm’s toys you have and why you love it.

111 Skin -Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask

Everyone loves a bit of me time especially when there’s pampering involved. What better way to treat yourself than with a lovely face mask?

I love them it is one beauty product, well maybe not just them, that I absolutely adore and can’t live without, they always leave my skin soft and is something, that as a busy, single mum I look forward to. Something for myself with no kids involved.

This time I tried 111Skin’s Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask. I received this item within a Glossybox-a monthly subsription box for beauty lovers. I was under no obligation to review this product.

This is a luxury mask and is a bit pricey at £100 for 5 of them. They are ideal if you want to splurge a bit.

16142366_1508722545824346_5347537896440975631_n

Before use the usual facial cleansing procedures apply.

This is a one-piece sheet mask with gel, you simply remove it from the pack, separate from the protective film and apply accordingly. After 20 minutes remove and let the reamining gel be absorbed naturally.

When you tear open the packaging take care as to not tear the mask. When the packet is open you are met with a wonderful, fresh, flowery scent. The mask itself is sparkly and gold in colour. When you apply to your face it is cooling but this is temporary.

Sheet masks are notorious for splipping and this one is very slippery. I had to realign it several times during the 20 minutes. Unfortunately this lead to the mask tearing in different places. Like similar masks the nose section is huge so take care not to breathe it in! Haha. 🙂

They are quite silly/creepy looking depending on who is looking, so probably best to apply this when young children are not around. If you would like a giggle then scroll on down to see my lovely mug shot! I do warn you though I do look daft!

15977116_1508721082491159_2352499331580484578_n

I told you it was silly looking!

Ok so this would be great at girly get togethers not only are you being pampered but you’re having a laugh. Maybe you will discover someone whose nose actually fits the mask! I’m guessing they are made with men in mind too.

I loved this mask from the fresh fragrance to the fun sparkle and the comical nose piece. I do think it could be improved by being a little thicker so that it doesn’t tear too easily and a little less gel could be used to avoid slipping. I think the price is a bit much but ideal for those girls/guys that are splurging on a spa day.

I think I’m going to start a weekly post where I share my experience of new face masks each week. I’ll call it Face Mask Friday!

See you Friday.

Have fun and keep smiling.

January Glossybox-The Edible Edit with Deliciously Stella.

Hi everyone,

I have been a Glossybox subscriber since August last year but this is unfortunately my first and only unboxing as I have now cancelled my subscription due to personal circumstances.

Glossybox is a monthly beauty box subscription with 5 carefully handpicked beauty products from a massive range of beauty suppliers. It is £10 plus p+p, per month on a rolling subscription. If you would like to check it out then head over to their site here.

The box this month was picked in collaboration with Deliciously Stella and as you have probably guessed this month’s products are based around food. Those eagle-eyed spellling and grammer freaks (myself included) will notice the spelling mistake. How did “Delicioulsy” even make it to print? I have to say that even though the spelling mistake has severely annoyed me I LOVE the inside of the lid.

Each month you receive a card updating you on the latest beauty releases, tips and tricks, a sneak peek at the following month’s box and details about the five products included.

There was an additional card this month which details a special, limited edition box from the luxury skincare brand La Mer. There are only a few available and you can register your interest here. This is NOT your standard monthly box and is an added extra. This box is available for £35 on a first come, first served basis on the 20th February and has been valued at a whopping £118! Wish I could try it out but circumstances dictate otherwise.

The box is £35 for Glossybox subscribers and £40 for non-subscribers.

Good luck on getting your hands on one.

The Products

  1. Nip + Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser RRP£19.95 from nipandfab.com

The card reads “A superfood powerhouse of kale, watercress and almond oil. This moisturiser enriches skin and protects it against external aggressors, from pollution to stress, while concentrated aloe vera and shea butter help to soothe and smooth skin”

15940625_1505031199526814_2605835762481751329_n

*Glossybox have incorrectly quoted the price it is in fact £14.95

I love the smell of this cream you really can smell the kale but it is a lovely fresh smell, think of the smell when you cut a cucumber. When applying the cream the kale smell is strongest but as it sits on the skin the aloe vera fragrance really comes through. This rubs in nicely and is a lovely light, non-greasy cream that has left my skin soft and smooth.

The full-sized product is 50ml. The sample that was in the box was 30ml worth £8.97.

2. Meet Matt(e) Trimony Single Eyeshadow RRP £34 per palette from theBalm.com

“This is one eyeshadow you’ll want by your side for special occasions. In one of two seasonal aubergine hues, the velvety smooth texture, triple-milled formula and true colour payoff mean you can use it wet or dry. Matt(e) will never let you down.”

*I have sourced this here in the UK at Debenhams for £37.50

Glossybox have stated on their card that this is a “full-sized” product. One, it is tiny, just a bit larger than your fingernail and two it states on the back “Free sample-not for sale”. I am disappointed in this as we are paying for 5 products to be lovingly chosen by experts and sent to our door yet I was sold a free sample. NOT IMPRESSED GLOSSYBOX!

I was sent the shade Matt Kumar, I don’t like it, it is far too dark for my skin tone. On the plus side it is great for layering and stays put.

3. Unani Illuminate Milk Cleanser RRP £14  comprarcosmetica.es

“This gentle cleansing milk is based on nutritious natural oils, which purify and protect your skin by removing impurities including makeup, leaving it soft and recharged.”

15965418_1505031146193486_2188818812135147614_n

This is my favourite product in the box. It is full-size and a generous 200ml. With this a little goes a long way, it has a cooling effect upon application. It is absorbed quickly without any stickyness. Upon application it has a bright, fruity, fresh fragrance but after some time that becomes a lovely creamy scent which is just delicious. Skin is left soft and supple. This product is NOT tested on animals. I used this to remove the eyeshadow above from my hand and I am really impressed.

*I have tried to find this in the UK but have been unsuccesful. 15.99Euro from Spain

4. Vitamasque Manuka Honey Face Mask RRP £3.99 from Vitamasques.com

“Make 2017 the year you indulge in a weekly face mask. This Korean mask is made with the extracts of nourishing Manuka honey and the triple layer sheet technology-a Korean inovation-makes for unbeatable absorption.

15965295_1505031266193474_3950553346213557538_n

You cannot beat a good face mask and these Korean sheet masks are awesome! I have tried the Hydro Mask from Vitamasques and it was amazing. You look odd, a bit scary actually so probably best to use this when young children are not around. See below you’ll either find it hilarious or a bit strange. I haven’t tried this yet due to a skin flare up but when it settles I will review this properly and I am so looking forward to a bit of “me-time”.

14448782_1383456208350981_5475153501716210140_n.jpg

With this mask you wash, cleanse and apply. After 20 minutes you remove and pat your face to allow the remaining gel to be absorbed.

*You can buy this as a box of four for £12.99 here.

5. Spa to You Konjac Sponge RRP £7.99 spatoyou.comspatoyou.com

“Made from 100% pure, natural and organic konjac plant fibre, this cleansing sponge is unbelieveably soft and gentle. It’s ideal for deep cleansing, moisturising and exfoliationg skin.”

15941141_1505030236193577_6636644013736026990_n

It’s a sponge. It comes soaked in the bag and quite honestly stinks. Suitable for vegans as it contains no animal fibres and is 100% natural plant fibres meaning it is completely biodegradable which I love because I love our planet and there has been nothing added to it in any way shape or form.

To use you soak the sponge, squeeze til damp then massage in a circular fashion. After use, squeeze it dry  and hang it in a well ventilated area.

Final Thoughts

16106000_1505029769526957_6316885040431917746_n

I am on the fence with this box. I love the Unani, Vitamasque and Nip+Fab. I am really disappointed with the Matt(e) eyeshadow as it clearly is a freebie and it states so on it so I really think Glossybox have to take note of what they are sending people because that is blatantly ripping good, paying customers off!

I am also really annoyed at the spelling mistake on the box!

The total value of the box is £34.95 accounting for the 30ml bottle of Nip+Fab and not including the eyeshadow.

If you are interested in becoming a Glossybox subscriber follow the link at the top of the page.

Keep on smiling.

Lynne

Pokemon Monopoly Review

As everyone who knows me well enough will tell you that I am a geek through and through and my kids have had the geek gene well and truly passed onto them. So when deciding what Christmas gifts to purchase for my eldest this year Pokemon Monopoly was at the top of the list and it’s AWESOME.

We have tha Kanto Edition and it features Charizard and Blastoise on the very colourful box along with the slogan “Gotta catch ’em all!”.

15822944_1498372973525970_7446248633880828960_n

Now the box is pretty cool and I love the artwork but the 6 metal pokemon tokens that come with the game are super cool and are very detailed. You can choose between Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Eevee, Jigglypuff and of course Pikachu, they are beautifully crafted and can be kept safe in the little drawstring bag provided.

15871677_1498373130192621_8478545781049695427_n

The board itself is pretty awesome and is very bright and colourful. In the centre of the board is the Kanto Region map and in place of the Chance and Community Chest cards there are Trainer Battle and Professor Oak cards which are essentially the same but they have been Pokemonified.

15871966_1498373083525959_6827171265814778134_n

The colour blocks on the board are still the same and in the same order (brown, light blue, pink, orange, red, yellow, green and dark blue) but instead of street names the blocks are arranged in order of the gym leaders that Ash battles on his journey and you can purchase that leader’s corresponding Pokemon.

Brown-Brock’s Gym- Geodude and Onix

Light Blue – Misty’s Gym- Staryu, Starmie and Horsea

Pink- Lt. Surge’s Gym- Voltorb, Electrabuzz and Raichu

Orange- Erika’s Gym- Victreebel, Tangela and Vileplume

Red- Sabrina’s Gym- Kadabra, Mr. Mime and Venomoth

Yellow- Koga’s Gym- Koffing, Muk and Wheezing

Green- Blaine’s Gym-Growlithe, Ponyta and Rapidash

Dark Blue-Giovanni’s Gym-Nidoqueen and Nidoking.

As usual you have to acquire all of the Pokemon in the set before you can build houses and hotels but this is Pokemon Monopoly so you have Pokemarts and Pokecentres instead.

In place of the traditional stations are Pokeballs to purchase. You can purchase, Pokeball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball and Master Ball and the usual Monopoly rules apply with these; if one is owned you recieve £25, 2 you get £50, 3 for £100 and 4 for £200. We call the money in this edition Pokebucks and they feature Pikachu in place of the Monopoly man.

The utility companies have been replace with Zapdos (electric) and Articuno (water). The traditional ruling applies here to, if one is owned you receive 4 times the dice roll and if both are owned you receive 10 times the dice roll.

Income tax has been replaced by Team Rocket and your Rival Attacks.

15825795_1498373033525964_4543925901047830842_n

We had an absolutely great time playing this and it will no doubt be played again and again because we are board game lovers and a family of geeks so we LOVE AWESOME STUFF.

There are other Pokemon Monopoly games available online too such as the Exclusive Kanto Edition, the Johto Edition and the Junior Pokemon Edition. I would love everyone of these!

I purchased it from Forbidden Planet when it was on sale.

Happy Gaming.
